Description:
AUDITION CALL The Hunchback of Notre Dame Directed by James Ogden, with Musical Direction by Terry Sanford Monday, April 30th, and Tuesday, May 1st. Callbacks: Thursday, May 3rd. The Colonnade Players will be holding auditions at The Colonnade for The Hunchback of Notre Dame, a new musical based on the Victor Hugo novel and songs from the Disney film. Arrive between 6 and 8 pm to fill out an audition form. Beginning at 6:30, auditioners will be seen in the order they arrived. Have ready a 1 minute monologue and a 32 bar cut of a musical theater song in the style of-- but not from-- the show. Be prepared to sing the whole song, if asked. You must sing with the accompanist, so bring sheet music with the cuts marked. Callback information will be posted and sent to anyone called by Wednesday afternoon following auditions, and the first Cast Meeting will be Friday, May 4th. Rehearsals will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings at The Colonnade. Below are listed characters and their vocal ranges, with a brief description. Ages listed are the character’s age range; the actor’s age need not fall in that range, though minimum age for the cast is 16. Quasimodo (Bb2 - Bb4, 16 - 25 y.o.) - The deformed bellringer of Notre Dame, he has lived his whole life in the cathedral tower, but never allowed it to darken his spirits. Esmeralda (E3 - Eb5, 20 - 30 y.o.) - A beautiful and free-spirited Gypsy with a fire in her heart and deep compassion, she dreams of a brighter future. Dom Claude Frollo (E2 - F4, 40 - 60 y.o.) - Archdeacon of Notre Dame cathedral, a devoutly religious man with a hatred of Gypsies, he believes the wicked shall not go unpunished. Phoebus de Martin (G2 - Bb4, 20 - 35 y.o.) - A veteran soldier who just wants to enjoy the pleasures of his new position, and will do nothing to risk it. Clopin Trouillefou (G2 - Bb4, 25 - 45 y.o.) - King of the Gypsies, the de facto leader of his people in Paris who will stop at nothing to protect them. The Congregants - (various voices and ages) - An ensemble of storytellers playing various Gypsies, soldiers, gargoyles, and citizens of Paris. The Choir - The ensemble will be supported by a large choir of singers on stage. They will be called to a limited number of rehearsals and are not required to dance. Those auditioning only for the choir will not need to prepare a monologue. The Hunchback of Notre Dame is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.MTIShows.com
