Description:
The Catoosa Community Players invite you to come and follow the yellow brick road! Beginning August 11, The Catoosa Community Players will present the time-honored, heartwarming , classic musical, “The Wizard of Oz.” Directed by Melissa Adams, with musical direction by Lou Ann Pope, this wonderful production follows the story of young Dorothy Gale, who lives on a farm in Kansas. When a large tornado picks up her house, and her beloved dog, Toto, and deposits them in the Land of Oz, Dorothy instantly becomes the center of attention in this unique, new land. While things in Oz are strange and beautiful, Dorothy just wants to get back home. She’s helped by Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, but she’s also in trouble with the Wicked Witch of the West, Who seeks revenge for the death of the Wicked Witch of the East. While searching for her way home, she meets a Scarecrow who needs a brain, a Tin Man who needs a heart, and a Cowardly Lion who needs courage. Soon the group is off to see the only person who they believe can help them, the all-wise and all powerful Wizard of Oz. With a a cast and crew of over 100 local stage veterans and stage debuting performers, this show is sure to delight and entertain audiences of all ages. Performances are Friday, August 11th, Saturday, August 12th, Friday, August 18th and Saturday, August 19th at 7:30pm, with a matinee performance on Saturday, August 19th at 1:00pm. There will also be a special matinee performance on Sunday, August 20th at 2:30pm to celebrate and honor the life of Katie Beth Carter, a very special Catoosa County performer who recently passed away. The entire Carter family has been a part of the performing arts in the Catoosa community and The Colonnade community since they opened it’s doors in 2001. In fact, “The Wizard of Oz” was Katie Beth’s very first production at this facility. All Catoosa Community Player proceeds from this matinee performance will go to The Katie Beth Carter Memorial Fund. Seating for all shows is limited, so make plans to get your tickets as soon as possible. Call 706-935-9000 or visit colonnadecenter.org, today!
